In Rolfing Movement Integration (RMI), we explore movement patterns in sitting, standing, and walking in order to discover the ones that are no longer contributing to a life of ease and joy. Because of injuries, belief systems, habitual movement patterns, sports, and life in general, we often move in ways that contribute to our pain and discomfort. Our habitual ways of moving are usually so unconscious that we don’t realize the strain patterns we are creating and encouraging each day. Small strains (such as always standing more on one leg than the other) plus time (think 50 years of leaning more on one leg) can equal pain and problems.
The intention in an RMI session is to discover which of those patterns we still need and which we can let go of. Then we work to create new patterns, new habits, which will change those small strains that eventually can cause big problems, and along the way can help increase mobility and decrease restrictions and lessen pain in the here and now.
Rolfing Movement(R) Integration is available as stand-alone sessions as well as being integrated into Rolfing® Structural Integration sessions.
